A true believer in God I am (not the religious God), my studies have brought me to believe that I am God eventually, or part of it, but with the same abilities of creation, to some extend, of the reality that I experience, and so each one of us, creating our individual reality every single moment.
It’s a peculiar definition “our reality”, one can (and should) ask “what? each one of us has his (or hers) own reality?”, well, yes, and no, I vote for maybe. Each and everyone of us have their own reality but the more pressing question should be “what is reality?”.
If two people walk down the street and see a ball, they both see the same ball probably, but the thing that differ between the two is their own perspectives about the ball, a kind of a unique point of view that each one of them has, which is the significant difference in our experience of “reality”. When those two people look at the same ball each one of them can see it in a completely different color, with flaws, shading, bumps and opinions, not the opinions of the ball, of course, but the people who watch it.
Our perspectives change everything, everything we see, everything we believe to be true, and is connected and influenced directly by the story of who we are, by our pasts and psychology, our self-image, belief system, emotions, our most intimate secrets, the ones we keep close to the hearts. Our perspective’s role is a filter, of all kind of shapes and colors, it changes every minute of our lives and sometimes takes on a twist we couldn’t even see coming, think about how much fun it is walking around with all those filters inside our heads every single minute! (yes, I’m being cynical).
Lets get back to those two people on the street looking at the ball. What if (and that’s a BIG if) one of them could remove his perspective and see the ball without any filter whatsoever? I think what he would see would probably blow our minds all together and would make our jaws drop. Unfortunately, it takes a lifetime of practice and self consciousness to remove those filters, but this is what we were put here to do so lets get busy! 🙂
As Neo in The Matrix so eloquently put it: “There is no spoon”.
